Animal Crafts for your Crafts Business
Everyone loves their pets!.. and if you can make some animal crafts to add to your product list, you will have a lot of new potential customers! An example of something nice for your dog or cat or whatever pet you have that would love a soft mat!.. is this denim mat.. I have made this for many pets, great animal crafts.. here is a picture and how to make it!
I made this out of clean used jeans, this makes it even softer.. of all different shades of blue.. I made a cardboard template that is 7" x 7" .. and cut out squares of denim.. in this case I cut out 20.. sew them together, allowing a 1/2" seam, but make sure to sew then with the seams going on the right side.. After you have sewn them together, clip all the seams close, about 1/8" apart (not trimming the seam but more like making a fringe, trim more at a 45 degree angle, you still need the 1/2" seam allowance to make the fringe, so try not to get too close to the stitching!) , then wash the denim mat, use some kind of softener to keep the denim even softer!.. (this is optional) then put it in the dryer.. be prepared to find a lot of denim lint in the washer and ESPECIALLY the dryer, make sure to empty your lint trap afterwards. By now your mat will be fluffy along the seams, now what I did, was to get a piece of fake fur, cut it out to the size of your mat, and then sew along the edges.. and you are DONE!.. If you are making a larger mat than this, you can tack sew the fur in the center, as you are only sewing the fur backing on at the edge seams.. This mat can be washed and washed, which is great for dogs.. but my cat loves it also! .. Great way to use up old jeans..Why not search the web for more free ideas for your crafts business?
