Child Proof and Pet Proof your work space or studio!

If you have a work space or studio in your house, then you MUST child proof and pet proof the area!.

Even if you have it completely separate, you know there will be nosy kids and dogs at some point in your work space.. and depending on what you do for a craft, this could be a nightmare!Child proof and pet proof is very important!

I learned this the hard way!.. we had just got 2 puppies, and although I managed to continue on with my business in my basement studio, somehow my puppy, who was about one years old at the time, managed to go downstairs when no one was looking and eat a bobbin of thread and a zipper!

I know you are thinking.. how did they get this?.. After investigation (had to become CSI's!) we found that my cat, Toby, had sent a bobbin of thread and a zipper flying off of my layout table to play with on the floor, and then my dog, who had been totally scared of the stairs up to that point, managed to go down there (probably heard the cat!) and promptly ate the bobbin and zipper..

I didn't find out.. until later that day, when she promptly threw it all up in the living room!.. I was actually very lucky she did that.. or there may have been a visit to the vet! I watched her the rest of the day, watched her out in the yard (you can imagine this job!) just to make sure there was nothing else.. and she was fine by the next day.. back to eating and playing.. this could have easily been a child, I had got very relaxed about my supplies in my studio as my children are grown.. but puppies and kittens can get into just as much trouble, with chemicals, sharp objects..

Put things away in drawers and cupboards, and containers with lids.. this is a good excuse to totally organize and utilize storage in your work space, child proof and pet proof..

My animals now love to watch me in my studio, they are older and hopefully wiser!.. but I still put my things away at the end of the day... you just don't know when that sleepy cat, just might try it again!
