Paint a great Cottage Portrait and cottage life for your unique arts and crafts business!

If, once again, painting and drawing is your passion!.. then a cottage portrait in cottage country is another great idea!...

Many cottagers have cottages that have been in their families for generations... they are their pride and joy during vacations and usually keep them nice..a cottage portrait might be the ticket!

If you are lucky enough to live near a lake or on the ocean, or you can visit your own cottage.. then why not scout the area for unique looking cottages and even boats!.. and offer to paint a great pictures.. You could even offer it on old pieces of wood from projects around their cottage, or frame it with an old window frame from their cottage.. (many cottage owners, do not throw anything like that away!).. something unique and different.. I personally once painted a cottage on an old large saw blade!.. I just made sure to prime it first with a metal primer, then I used acrylics paints, and then varathaned it after.. the customer LOVED it.. and kept it at their house in the city to remind him of his special cottage when he was stressed!..

Boats are also a great subject, most people take great care of their boat at the cottage and you could get some nice pics of the boat.. I also did a collage painting on a long old saw blade (the type with a handle at each end).. the customer wanted his cottage, then the boat, then the boathouse, then the view all on the same blade, so I separated each painting with a painted tree.. he then hung this on his wall back in the city.. just make sure the surface of any of these old pieces is clean and secure, you don't want to be cutting yourself!..

If you don't feel comfortable painting people unless way off in the distance, like little dots!.. make sure to tell them that up front.. I am great with buildings and landscapes, but don't ask me to draw people!... most just want their cottage portrait, and that works out great!.. just remember all angles with your camera!..
