Organize your Craft Books and Patterns early!

Its good to get your craft books and patterns started and organized early..

Decide what arts and crafts you are planning to make for the year.. (this exercise is best done in January or February when business is usually quiet).. This is the best time of year (Jan to March) to purchase your books and patterns, especially for Christmas crafts!!, they should be on sale .

I would sit down, and go thru the books and bookmark which ones I felt would be good to make, then I would photo copy the page, and put it into a plastic sleeve in a binder. This is like creating your own reference library.. put tabs for categories, and although it feels strange looking at Christmas Crafts this soon in the year, its best to get started early.. that way you are not in a mad rush to make product around the same time you need to rake leaves, shovel driveways, and do your own Christmas shopping!

Then you need to get a book from your local Crafts council (check at craft supply stores in your area as well) for a list of local and not so local craft shows and fairs to apply to..

This way you can also decide which craft books and patterns to purchase or design yourself, based on where you will have your show...

Get busy NOW!.. and organize yourself, and your supplies, and get started creating.. especially if you are thinking of any spring shows!.. Christmas craft shows traditionaly do the best, but you would be surprised at how much you can make at a Spring show, if you are offering crafts for home and garden.. get collecting patterns and ideas!.. remember to have a idea notebook always with you to jot down craft ideas!
