Make a Craft Schedule... to help you organize your business!
Make yourself a craft schedule to help organize your business..
Depending on your craft, most crafters will have a few of a particular item. Spend at least one day, deciding what you will be making and how many, and how many different crafts you wish to produce by a certain day, show, or time..
This is a very important step, as once you have decided what you are making then that is half the battle!.
Then you can schedule ... lets say.. Monday: today, will basecoat all widgets to get ready for decorating!.. that was just an example.. but you know what I mean! that way you only have out the supplies you need for that morning or day, and you get all your basecoating done at one time.. have an area setup for the drying or finished prepared items, then clean up your area, and then focus on the next step.. which may now be .. decorative painting, decoupage, gluing more pieces on.. whatever your craft is!..
This may sound mundane, but your place or studio can easily end up in a HUGE mess if you base coat one thing, then bounce to another thing, getting supplies out as you go, and by the end of the day, you are tired out and haven't really accomplished a lot!.. So, make yourself a craft schedule on one of those dry eraser boards, keep it where you can see it, make changes if you need to, but plan out as much of your week as possible, and you will end up running your business like a well oiled machine!
If you have one of those days, where you just are not "into it", make that a "supply run day"... get the supplies needed to get started.. but include that in your schedule.. it can be very difficult in a creative business like arts and crafts, to keep the place organized, but if you have a craft schedule, it makes life a little bit easier and you will enjoy your business!
