Set hours for your Craft Time!

The number one problem with a home craft business is setting aside Craft Time.

It is important to set aside business hours or craft time, to do your creating, your phone calls, your computer time.. You should not be looking at the laundry, do the gardening, walking the dog, and saying "I will start right after this is done".. because this is where you realize IT'S NEVER DONE!

We all know how much work is involved in daily life, but if you had got up and went to a job outside of home, you would not be doing the laundry, or watching TV!.. so although its great to maybe throw on a load of laundry while during your lunch break, and take the dog for a walk to get inspired during your coffee break.. you have to make craft time..!

If you have a separate room in the house, then go in it and close the door and get to work!.. Personally, in the beginning, I had to get dressed go out for my supplies, then I was able to focus once I quickly got back.. I think that is from years of commuting to work.. the need to separate home from business..

If that is what it takes, to go to town, get supplies or a coffee/tea, then come right back (no shopping side trips!) and you are able to focus, then go for it, but make sure you get the hours in you need to properly attend to your business.. you do not want to be burning the midnight oil the night before a craft show.. A friend of mine, who has older kids, used to put a sign on the door saying " I AM WORKING.. WILL BE AVAILABLE AT 10:00AM FOR A COFFEE BREAK.. now I know the whole idea of working from home was to spend more time with your kids and family.. so then get creative with your hours.. make sure you have at least 2 hours in a row, for your creativity.. I don't know about you, but I can't get creative with only 20 minutes.. I need to relax and get focused.. take your business seriously and you will get things done!
