Taking Credit Cards for your Crafts Business
Deciding whether to take credit cards can be a hard one.
More and more people get "points" if they use their cards, and you are getting more and more people wanting to use them for craft shows etc.
A lot depends on the price of your creations, if most of your product sells for $5.00 or less, then its an extra expense that you do not need.
If, on the other hand, you sell product that is getting over $30.00 and more, its something you might want to consider.
Check with your bank that you do business with, they may offer a low fee merchant card account for your craft shows, or will tell you who will.. its a good place to start.
If you sell online, you pretty well have to take some kind of credit.. most people are aware of PAYPAL.. but if you have a online store thru YAHOO, they have an area that discusses credit cards and also how to apply for a merchant account.. and all possible ways of receiving payment.. the YAHOO store has a lot of support this way.. take a look...

Look at all the areas of information in Yahoo stores, and what they support.. you can have a checkout that includes credit cards as well as paypal, and there are links to apply for both.. its a great place to start!
Also, for craft shows, remember, you will need to have a manual credit card machine, as you do not usually get a phone line or power!.. saves renting a fancy credit card machine, but you usually have to phone in for authorization, so it wouldn't hurt to have a cell phone with you, unless you take the chance and wait until the end of the day to phone your information in..
