Making Denim Pillows

Denim Pillows... also make great gifts and are a great addition to your craft shows!

The only draw back to denim pillows or any kind of stuffed item, its travel and storage.. but if you can allow for the puffiness of them, they are great sellers!..

I made the pillows out of 8 x 7" squares of denim.. 4 for each side.. I allowed 1/2" seam allowance.. sew it all together as one big strip two sqaures wide and 4 squares long.. then fold and sew 3 side seams.

Don't forget to allow a hole for stuffing your pillow!. Then the tedious part of this .. is clipping the seams to speed up the fraying process, but its worth it!..

Then throw the pillows in the washer and dryer to make the seams frayed and soft, then stuff your pillow.. and there you go!.. They end up being approx. one foot square and make great throw pillows especially for a teens room, or that "chabby chic" look..don't forget to empty your lint traps on your washer and dryer... have fun!

The other pillow, I market as a TOOTH FAIRY pillow.. I make it with 2 x 7" squares of denim sewn with the seams showing, then I sew a small inner pocket from an old pair of jeans on the front.. note: its best for your sewing machine if you use needles designed for denim sewing.. they last longer!.. then clip the seams and wash the pillow and then stuff... this is really cute.. also makes a great "treasure pillow"..

Try marketing it in different ways!.. look for other free ideas on the internet, try typing in "denim crafts, or denim pillows" and see what you get!

Lots of great ideas out there for making and creating for your arts and crafts business... also .. denim makes a great surface for painting on too!.. Its very similar to canvas.. especially the more worn denim!
