Finding your style....
Finding your style, in arts and crafts, is something everyone wants to be remembered for.. but you know what?.. If you create enough on a regular basis, you will form your own unique style!
You do not need to take courses, or "find yourself".. your personality will shine thru on any of your work, especially if you are passionate about your creations... finding your style will just naturally happen.
When you are deciding on a craft to make and sell, think about what you can add to it, that is a reflection of you. Whether you paint or sew, there is something that you can add, to make your creations different from others.
If you want your products to sell, especially at craft shows, then you need to be able to have a different twist on an item that might be similar to others. Instead of trying to keep up with the other crafters, find your own style. If you are determined to make a "widget a" like some of the other crafters, then come up with a theme or something that just makes your "widget a" a little different and appealing.
Customers do not like to see table after table of the same things. This is why many craft shows are "juried" meaning they keep track of all the craft products, so that there are not table after table of the same thing. You are more likely to get into shows, if you can offer something different.
On many of the pages in this website, there are ideas, and place to get supplies, and help trying to figure out what type of art or craft you like.. learn as much as you can about the craft you want to do or want to improve on, and then "just keep creating".. you know you are doing the right craft, when you feel creative doing it, less stressed, and "disappear" into it!
I myself, love to paint, and I have people ask.. "where did you learn your style?".. I always say "I don't know".. it just happened.. and it does!
So the most important part, is to get creating, develope it more, learn more about it, love what you do, then show the world!.. the business part will follow!
Get creating, and find your style!
