Keepsake Art... Preserve memories...
Keepsake art... this is very trendy right now.. anyway of preserving memories from times gone by.. is very important to people.. it is definitly a form of art!
If you are a woodworker, then great looking frames to display old pictures.. if you are a scrapbooker, then great albums that the customer could add their pictures to.. Jewelry.. re-using older stones and settings from old rings, altered books to keep special things in... there are so many craft ideas for keepsake art.
If a customer can use the product and yet its a piece of art, then this is bonus!... useable art!.. I find these are most likely to sell.. Quilting is another keepsake art, as quilters use old vintage fabrics from old garments.. People are inheriting more and more vintage things, and want to modernize them or preserve them..
Just to give you an idea of this market... my sister is a full electrician, and she started offering "lamp rewiring" services as a side business, and it has exploded with people with old lamps they have inherited from the 30's and 40's that need to be brought up to the modern electrical code, so they can use them!.. therefore old is new again!.. These same people were also looking for modern but well made lamp shades.. so if you do anything like that it would be a niche market right now!..
The idea of preserving memories, and antiques into something visual or useable.. (rather than stuff them in a closet somewhere!)is a good little niche right now... so whatever your passion is.. see if you can work in some keepsake art.
