Marketing your Crafts Catalog!

Marketing your crafts catalog can be another challenge, you need to be creative here!

Getting or marketing your crafts catalog can be done many ways, if you have a website, you can offer it online, if you do a lot of craft shows, you can have them sitting there on the table for taking.. You can include them in present customers shipments, and you can have them distributed with the local paper for a fee, or thru the post office for a fee.. The only problem with the post office or paper, is that you do not get to pick which residents receive this.. this is called MASS MAILING or DISTRIBUTION.. This is great if you want everyone to get your catalog, but are prepared for the fact that many will just toss it in the recycling box!.. The first few ways are more targeted at the customer base you want.

You need to come up with a marketing plan, this way you will know how many catalogs to get printed, how much money are you spending on printing?.. are they black and white or coloured?

Make sure you have an order form in the catalog, do they mail it to you? is it postage paid?.. or do they phone or fax an order.. these are other costly decisions you must make.. You need to devise a system of being able to track how many sales are from your catalog, maybe a questionaire of just a couple of questions thats on the mail order form, of questions you would ask when they phone in an order.. such as:

Where did you get this catalog?

Where do you live?

This can give you a good idea of where to target your catalogs for your next run..

Of course, your family and friends are a free and great way of spreading catalogs, as they are your best supporters and want you to succeed!

Keep track of how many catalogs are out there compared to how many orders you received.. does this match your goals?

Don't forget your present customers when handing out catalogs, this way they can see "whats new" with your arts and crafts.. keep your present customers happy!.. they are your bread and butter!
