Put together a Press Kit for your Crafts Business!

You need to toot your horn by getting a press kit together for your new arts and crafts business!

If you have just started up, and want to get known in your own community, put together a crafts press kit, you can call your local paper and explain to them that you are a new business.. You may have noticed when you read the paper, especially the community section, other new businesses starting up, or donations they have made, or helped with a community event?..

This is where you would put your new business!.. You will need to come up with a "press kit".. which consists of: a page about your business, what you do, where you are, and what you are offering for a grand opening!..a page about yourself, your interests, your hobbies (other than your business!).. You don't have to be a large store to have a grand opening!.. if you work from home, this could be a open house..or let them know your next craft show you are in... or grand opening of your studio.. that type of thing.. Maybe offer goodies.. but just make sure to toot your own horn in your biography to the paper..This can be difficult to do! especially if you are shy about your abilities!.. Keep it short, you will also need a photograph of you and your crafts, you can bring one to them or they may take one of you.. plus your business card..

This way, it is all ready for the paper, they may interview you for any points you may have missed, but you are more likely to get your new business advertised faster, if you have all of this prepared ahead of time!

Some papers, will give you a discount for advertising your new business for the first time.. consider running a small ad weekly afterwards... Now you will feel more official!
