Recycled Crafts

Recycled crafts... these pictures above will give you an idea of many craft ideas you can make from recycled products.. such as denim..

You could also make recycled crafts with any fabric, clothes that are no longer useful can be picked apart and the fabric used, especially in recycled crafts ideas that only need small pieces, or that can be sewn together, just like quilts!

Recyling is a great way to go, and it keeps your supply costs down, but its also pleasing to the buyer, and its nice knowing its been recycled!

The above examples show, a denim quilt I made, but with NO fiberfill to keep it lighweight, and I cut flannel I had around the house into the same size squares as the denim, and sewed it together and frayed it with the denim, makes a colourful fringe!, also the black denim, with a red flannel backing, you can see all the different shades of black, as well as the cat mat, which is 8 squares of denim (7" squares) sewn together and a kitty print flannel on the back, you can also keep one end open and fill with some cat nip, and close the end with velcro for emptying and washing!.. the bottom picture is a 7" square that I have made into a needle holder with a piece of left over flannel on the inside.. I don't throw anything away!.. Also there is a picture of a placemat, great for outdoor dining.. very casual look... all these can be thrown in the washer.. I also sell them in my online store, A Brush with the Past...see the link below..

When selling arts and crafts you need to find your niche.. and maybe recyled crafts are your "thing".. get your imgination going and see what you can come up with!... Before you throw out any left over craft supplies or especially fabric, think about what you could make with it!.. Keep a plastic tub, with all you leftover bits, just for one of those days, when you are looking for a new idea to create.. and go through your scraps, also look online for ideas!

Google
The internet has become a fantastic tool for finding ideas and to see what is out there!

As you can see I love to create with denim, but I also like to paint, and I also use to find old wooden items at garage sales, and flea market, and clean them up and paint on them to give them a second life, either for my own home, or to sell in my crafts business... there are all kinds of ways, to recycle crafts, get your thinking cap on.. and have fun creating!

A Brush with the Past A Brush with the Past There are many other ideas for creating recycled crafts... check out some of my other pages below for some more great ideas..
