Decorate some Terra Cotta Pots for your garden crafts!
Try the old stand by of decorating some terra cotta pots!
This is a great craft that sells well!... Depending on your craft creations, whether you paint, stencil, stamp, or antique them... you MUST prime them first..
I have always liked that my garden crafts were also USEFUL crafts.. and the problem with terra cotta pots .. is that they are porous. Once they have a plant in them, and they get watered, the moisture from the inside will slowly seep to the outside..
I have found that if you prime the inside and the outside first, before you paint them, then your great creation will last longer, and not get that stained water look, or the paint peeling off.. which is usually what happens. If people just put another planter pot inside of the terra cotta pot, its not too bad, but even then, moisture still tends to seep to the outside, and peel paint. So, make sure to prime or seal first, then paint, then coat with at least 2 coats of outside varathane, and you should be good to go for a while!..
Try painting scenes, animals, abstract shapes, bright colours!.. whatever your flare may be!.. have fun, and have a couple with some flowers in them for show.. and people will love them!..
Of course, if you are taking them to a craft show... pack well!.. they will break very easily!... HAVE FUN!
