Window Craft... more window art!

Window craft.... this is an idea for some more window art for your arts and crafts business!

This window craft I did was on a fairly large window... This building is a local crafters market.. and gets quite busy on the weekends.. the owners felt they had too many useless windows in the front and not enough wall space for all the crafters!.. The idea was to cover the windows, but without refinishing the entire exterior of the building which would be way too expensive. This was a quick fix idea, that everyone really liked!

They had full size pieces of plywood delivered to my house, and one by one I created... almost mass produced!... these windows.. they were too look dark with just a white shade of shadows of people milling about in the store.. I then added the canopy in paint ... had to do afair bit of measuring here, but used just a plastic lid to trace the round edges! used a lot of painters tape for the cross pieces.. These are totally acrylic paint. I primed the plywood first, then painted the painting and left the white cross pieces to look like window panes.. You just have to think this one through and paint from the background to the foreground!.. I put on varathane for outside use so as not to peel from the sunlight, and they attached them.. from the road, they just look like regular windows..

This is window craft.. or window art.. and it can definitly be useful!.. This would also work in a garage window, or a window where you don't want people looking in.. instead of boarding it up... create some sort of window craft!

This is what each piece looked like before I delivered them.. You can see the affect it had.. it was quite striking..!

I basically will paint anything that moves!.. and this can make your arts and crafts business very unique!.. This was great advertising for me, as the owner was very pleased.. I was nervous about it... these were large pieces for me.. but it worked out, and it made a great calling card!

Painting is just one craft.... you can make your arts and crafts business work with whatever your chosen talent is... just look around for some ideas, and mix useful with creative and see what you come up with!
