Woodworking... a great talent, and great for business!Woodworking... if you are talented enough to create with wood, then why not make a craft business of it? The trick is to creating a craft that everyone is going to want to pay you for.. What does always seem to go, are well made Christmas ornaments from wood. If you can show detail, even better, you can usually fetch a good price for them as well, as people are heading back to simpler styles and rustic styles, and are not always about the flashing lights and electronics.
If you can create a craft that is also functional then the sales are even better, such as jewelry with wooden pendants or pins, and of course its always about display at Craft Shows. You will need to spend as much time on designing a good display that can be setup and taken down.. as the craft itself. You have to remember, people are shuffling down a path at Arts and Craft Shows, trying to take in all the booths, and most will do a quick once around, and then come back for a second look, but if you can catch their eye, then they will either stop right then and take a look, or for sure, make their way back.. Picture it like mall walking.. on a busy Saturday, people are overwhelmed by all the choices, and you need to attract their attention, so at a craft show, you need a display that they can see. If you do Christmas ornaments, then why not setup a small tree?.. and load it with your ornaments, or have a beautiful cloth covering your tables, that accent your projects, have them at various levels, so that their eyes will catch them all. If wooden frames are your crafts, then you will need a carousel of some kind to display them on.. Just make sure it is all user friendly and that people are not afraid to touch and enjoy your crafts. After all, you worked hard on your woodworking projects, let everyone see them, dispay them with pride!
