You can create all kinds of original and beautiful crafts to make and sell by pressing flowers.
Flowers are so unique and if you are thinking ahead finding them and pressing them in the late summer and early fall is perfect for any of those Christmas crafts you would like to make.
Who wouldn't want something that reminds them of the nicer weather and all that nature has to offer. Yes you can create awesome crafts from leaves, but there is something about pressed flower art that is just unique. Each flower will be different and then you can arrange them in such a way that becomes art.
You can create greeting cards, scrapbook pages, and even pressed flower jewelry that comes under wearable art if you want to sell your creations.
This is an old art form and you don't need lots of equipment. Big phone books will do the trick as long as you can put weight on them, but if you plan on doing a lot of pressing then getting an affordable flower press would be a worthwhile investment.
Below is a quick video to remind you of how easy this craft is. So, take a walk through your garden before that frost sets in and start pressing for profit!
The above press is from Amazon and is an affordable way to press many flowers at one time. This saves having phone books all over the house. You can use the resulting flowers in all kinds of crafts.
The microwave one is faster, you can have your pressed flowers same day.
If you keep them in a box or envelope then they will stay safe for your craft projects.

pressed leaf frame - pressed flower idea
Once you have a good supply of pressed flowers and leaves you can use them for all kinds of crafts such as greeting cards, frames and more.
This project is for a framed leaf which I thought was really elegant and would make a great craft to make and sell. You can get good frames from reuse centers or thrift stores and then you can repaint them or distress them or whatever you feel would work best. You can even check the dollar store for frames with glass.
Follow the video for how to go about framing your finds!
vintage pressed flower cards
Below is a video using pressed flowers, white glue and tissue paper to create a card that looks very vintage. You can make original cards to sell at your next craft show with flowers you have gathered through the nice months of the year.
pressed flower bookmarks using clear tape
I thought this was a super simple and yet elegant way to make a bookmark. The artist uses pressed flowers into a piece of packing tape and a personalized quote on a colored bit of paper. She then tops it all with another piece of tape.
The flowers you use for this method must be flat for the tape to secure them and without bubbles. Check it out.
Hopefully this has given you some ideas for crafts you can make and sell using pressed flowers you have collected and either pressed in books or with a press (sold on amazon above). If you use books don't forget where you put them!
I once found some pressed flowers in books of my grandma's from decades ago!
pressed flower phone case
This is a super way to preserve any summer flower or even flower from gifts you may have received. Press them by using a press or the book method then affix into a clear iphone case. Check out the video below.
You can create works of art from nature. Instead of a brush use dried flowers and leaves. This is a fun and profitable way to use pressed flowers especially if you are looking for crafts to make and sell.
